About Michael Eakes

Michael Eakes is a leader in community oriented software, web application architecture, RSS aggregators, and financial software consulting. As Senior Architect at Rojo Networks, Michael designed and implemented the core feed reading aggregator for tens of thousands of users; created the community based features of Rojo; and is active in defining the future for RSS feed aggregators.

Michael has extensive experience as a financial software consultant on Wall Street, and has been involved in the development and management of systems for a wide range of products and purposes on the buy-side and sell-side. His accomplishments include building the first electronic trading system for complex option contracts based on Energy Futures; building the web version of Schwab's Fixed Income Inventory Management system; and consulting with Random Walk Computing.

Prior to Wall Street, Michael Eakes co-founded Advanced Scheduling and Control, pioneering a flexible system for simulation and control for the manufacturing industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, with an international minor in Japanese Language and Culture. Michael actively participates in standards discussions within the technical community surrounding Web 2.0 and RSS development through conferences, speaking engagements, his weblog and more.
