Atoyac, Guerrero, Mexico
Just a few miles inland, Atoyac was like being in the twilight zone. The highway I was supposed to pass through on disappeared into the chaos of the town. What was supposed to be 2 minutes passing through turned into 3 hours of circling around the town, getting further and further from an exit, children torturing giant screaming hogs in the middle of one way streets, and a this rundown satellite village where everyone was limping and leering at me as if I was edible.

Guerrero, Mexico
In Guerrero, I set out to work on locating and being the first to photograph a species of flower "Lobelia Guerrerensis" that I discovered in 1994 from preserved specimens. From this beach, I headed inland, high up into the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains.

Baja California Roadblock
I tried taking a shortcut. The rocks in the road became more and more ridiculous. Finally, after the boulders came as big as my car, I turned back and took the main road.

And when it burned, it burned so hot that a giant tornado vortex formed at the center of the flames, and then spun out into the crowd of frightened onlookers.
